In early 2016, 75 state FFA officers from 24 states traveled to South Africa to visit farms, agribusinesses and historical sites and to immerse themselves in the local culture.
Illinois State FFA Secretary Susie Thompson explains that the goal of the trip was to learn about the industry of agriculture in South Africa by seeing the process firsthand.
Maryland State FFA President Isabella Kukor says visiting a Jersey dairy farm enabled her to see both the similarities and the differences between dairy farming in South Africa and the United States.
Oregon State FFA Reporter Ricky Molitor enjoyed experiencing the South African culture and meeting and connecting with the locals, who were friendly and welcoming.
Florida State FFA Vice President Taylor Pearce came home with great respect for the farmers in South Africa after seeing how they adapt to changing situations.
