Anne Knapke says her year as a national FFA officer was a formative year of her life as her experiences with students reinforced life lessons such as personal responsibility. Anne has presented workshops on diversity and inclusion at the national FFA convention and expo, and her interest in health and wellness led her to obtain an integrative health coaching certificate. She encourages current FFA members to take advantage of opportunities to push themselves.

Cindy Rohde, FFA Advisor, Pierce FFA Chapter, Arbuckle, Calif.

Cindy Rohde never thought she would be a teacher, but after 26 years in the profession, she says it’s the best thing in the world. One of her favorite activities, the annual Arbuckle FFA Field Day at Pierce High School, started 17 years ago. The event now hosts 18 contests and draws more than 1,600 attendees. Cindy received an Honorary American FFA Degree‒Teacher at the 2014 National FFA Convention & Expo.

Mantachie FFA Chapter, Mantachie, Miss.

Mantachie High School in Mississippi has a long tradition of agricultural education, and the Mantachie FFA Chapter is known for its fundraising programs. FFA advisors C.W. Franks and Joe Rogers oversee two unique projects at the school: a meat processing facility and a sawmill. Students work in the meats lab and at the sawmill to gain valuable skills while they make money to support chapter members and chapter activities.

Marie Carity, FFA advisor at Miami East High School in Casstown, Ohio, and Miami East FFA member Katie Bendickson talk about their chapter’s service learning project that was funded by an FFA: Food For All grant. Chapter members raised 200 broiler chickens, which were then processed and donated to a local family abuse center to provide fresh meat to the residents.
