And Coty Back explains how the national officers prepare for the convention – and how life will change for six FFA members who are elected to the new national officer team.

John Romo, AgriCorps Volunteer in Ghana

John Romo was introduced to agriculture and FFA as a high school student in Westlaco, Texas, and that experience changed the course of his life. Through AgriCorps, John spent a year in Ghana helping young people learn how to make farming a profitable enterprise. John was honored for his work by being named chief of development for the community of Adarkwa, Ghana.

Anna Ehlers, a member of the Sioux Central FFA Chapter in Iowa, led a group of students on a nine-day service trip to Haiti, where they built a Safe T Home and completed other projects at an orphanage. Anna says the experience taught her that she can make an impact on people’s lives in her community and the world.
