The Sibley-Ocheyedan FFA Chapter in Iowa was chartered in 1936, and today the chapter has more than 125 members. When the school board said there was no money to hire a second agriculture teacher, some of the chapter members started a fundraising campaign. Their goal is to raise enough money to pay a teacher’s salary and benefits for five years.

Marc Schulman, president of Eli’s Cheesecake in Chicago, serves on the Business Advisory Council for the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences. Working in the food business, Marc credits his father and WGN farm broadcaster Orion Samuelson with teaching him about the importance of agricultural education. He says CHSAS students are uniquely prepared to respond to future challenges in the agriculture industry.
